I'm a card carrying member!
Well I’m back from first aid and have my card to prove it!
Of course the first thing she says about the class is that it’s basically the same course as the human one with the exception that you aren’t tested on it afterwards to be certified. Now I’m wondering if it was really worth it since I have taken the human first aid and cpr course and passed the test. That was a few years ago and I never re-certified for CPR after it expired but still…
But I did learn a few things so it wasnt totally repetative and I’ll get a first aid book out of it for pets.
Pouring rain here, no change there, I hear vending has been cancelled for the afternoon.
No that means, no vending, no walks on the beach, no long walks in general, which makes for a boring afternoon.
Friday morning: Weather as usual
Weather this morning is about the same as last year… M.I.S.E.R.A.B.L.E.
But no sore throat for me! So thats positive.
Got rid of my headache last night and just hung around with some of my groups members for dinner, beers and a late night boardwalk/beach walk
Also, I just found out something I forgot to pack…
MY raincoat! I thought I had packed it with the dogs, but alas it’s not there.
I had a nice one I bought here last year too. Oh well, I do my my umbrella so alls not lost.
No beach walk for me today, not very nice weather and we don’t want to anger the cold gods. Perhaps they would like a sacrific of some sort? Discuss amongst yourselves.
Off to DD in a few minutes then on to my First Aid class.

We have arrived!
Well its October 2006, so you know what that means, another Dewey Beach!
Met a fellow greyhounder around 9am and made our way here with two stops. They were going to Lewes so we parted on Rt. 1.
Got here about 2:45pm, checked in, everyone peed and now are relaxing a bit. I have a killer headache right about now.
The rest of my greyhound group also arrived shortly after, we actually all passed each other on the highway.
Stupid hotel still does not have any type of high speed internet access. They renovated two floors, you’d think they’d spring for something other than dial up.
Right now I’m connected at 36k.
Yeah, yeah I know…

Back from Dewey Beach
Well I’m home. Made it home in record time, 4:10. Left at 8:30 and pulled into my condo complex at 12:40. Going down it took us about 4:45 but we also stopped for a half hour. No traffic to speak of going home and when there was some they were still going a casual 65mph. 20.7mpg for the whole trip, not bad for the SUV. I did get 21.5 going down but all the driving around Rehoboth and Dewey obviously brought down the total average.
I know I said this last year but I miss my friends already, all the old ones and the new ones I made this year. Already can’t wait for next year.
Even though I was sick overall I had a good time. Cody was sad to go. Mr. Happy go lucky gets excited to see all the other hounds and HAS to go meet them and their owners. Pretty is a little more low key in large groups but with a small group of people she’s a little ham too.
They both came in the house ran around like crazy greyhound and are now sacked out on the couch and bed.
Well, time to unpack the car, make myself some soup for this damn cold and relax!
One last one for the road
Here is the last update from my hotel in Rehoboth beach. Feeling slighty better this morning but have a horrible runny nose. Yeah, I know, I should go catch it. Gonna pack up the car, check out and make it down to Dewey one last time for the farewell beach walk. Then after that we are headed home!
This is GreyhoundDad, live on location, signing off.
*ACHOO!*

And the fun continues
Staying in for the last night here. Was invited to go out to dinner at some place but just not feeling up to going out. Instead I had a couple of slices of pizza with my hounds by my side.
Will probably take them for a walk down on the boardwalk again tonight one last time.
11pm update:
I made the best of this evening even though I’m sick (now have a bad cough and sneezing), took som Clavimox, hoping that helps for the ride home. I ended up spending the remainder of the night at the PMS house talking and watching TV. I just got back in from taking our last walk on the boardwalk until next year.
Reserved my room again for next year but they are redoing the hotel and they may decided to restrict pets next year so I may have to find other accomodations. We’ll see.
G’night.
p.s. Judy makes some kick ass tea!!!
It's noon time
Well got back from walking on the boardwalk. Lots of people out today!
Forgot to mention this morning on the beach the dolphins were out putting on a show. So it was worth it.
Still feeling just generally lousy and now seem to be coughing like a chain smoker. Next time maybe I should go on vacation at a hospital.
Morning update
Well back from the morning walk on the beach. No more rain but it’s a bit nippy. I still feel like crap. Sore throat, headache, conjested, but I bundled up and took a walk on the beach anyway.
Gonna relax for a while with some tea and then hit the firehall and the vendor tents one last time. There are a few things I forgot to get yesterday.
I’m gonna miss the brunch this year, left my stupid ticket on my coffee table at home. D’OH! Just as well since I don’t feel well anyway.
Sorry my updates aren’t more exciting. It started off as a good idea, but who knew I was gonna get sick.

Late night report
Well I didn’t want to spend the night in the hotel room so I went to the PMS house and ended up going out to dinner with some of the girls. When we got out it had stopped raining! YAY! Went back and hung at the house for a bit then went and grabbed my hounds and took a walk on the boardwalk, FINALLY! It’s something very simple but it’s one of my favorite things to do. Nothing like hearing that surf, smelling the salty air and have a nice cool breeze off the beach. At times it was like an impromptu meet & greet there were so many people stopping us to ask us about the greys. I was probably out there a half hour and then a bunch more greys starting coming out of the woodwork and we had a nice gathering on the boardwalk at the end of Rehoboth ave.
So we just got back and I’m calling it a night. I still feel like poo, but am not letting it get me down! Hopefully a good night sleep will make me feel better.
Not fun being sick on vacation
No change in weather… steady ran with bursts of downpours. Weather reports say it may clear up in the morning.
My sore throat hasn’t gotten any better and probably worse, the humidity is killing me. To say the least I feel like ****. A/C in the hotel room is horrible, either it’s too hot or too cold, no in between. Not fun feeling sick when you are supposed to be on vacation!
Not real hungry either, right now Pepsi is my best friend.
Weather update: M.I.S.E.R.A.B.L.E
Did some early shopping in the vendor tents and just got back from the firehall. The hounds and I are beat and my kness are killing me. I did buy a nice rain coat and umbrella though.
I’m gonna Relax and stay cool until I have to go look at my picture proofs that were taken yesterday.
There is a sushi bar around the corner, sounds like dinner to me!
And the rain continues in Dewey
Well it’s another rainy day today. Not sure if we are going to do the beach walk at 8:30, might wait to see if the weather clears. But the vendor tents and the firehall are open from 10-5 and we are planning on being there!
The GT party at the Lighthouse last night was fun. Well until the DJ had the manager kick us out because it’s a “dance club”. Uhm ok… Anyway most people went back to the PMS house and continued the party there.
Well, off to drink my DD coffee and try and get rid of this horrible sore throat I woke up with.

Here comes the rain!
Well at 3:15 it started to rain. Nothing heavy just a light drizzle, but none the less its making things a little damp.
I Did just get back from photos with Paw Prints Photograpy, they are going to be great! Then went by to get a commemorative photo but didn’t see the photographer outside, probably due to the weather.
Time for dinner then some rest before the GreyTalk gettogether at the Ligthhouse. Hopefully it will stop raining by then. Dogs are tired from all the walking and running around. Cody is like the energizer bunny, he’s always up for a walk or trip, but my senior girl Pretty is not doing bad and is keeping up, but I think it’s going to be an early night to bed for her.
Live from Dewey Beach!
My hounds and I arrived yesterday at 2pm. We made good time down here is just under 5 hours. I took the hounds for a walk on the beach, I dropped of the ramp for the “when I get older” presentation and also stayed for the presentation and then headed back to the hotel. I (as well as the hounds) was exhausted at that point and we crashed for a few hours and then ended up staying in for the night.
Weather right now (Friday 10am) is overcast with some gusty wind. Forecast is for rain. We just came back from the beach walk at 8:30am which actually was nice and cool with the wind. Dogs are zonked out and I’m enjoying some DD coffee planning out the rest of the day!
Stay tuned more to come!

Happy new year!
Ok, so I’m a couple of days late, but give me a break ok?
We, myself and the hounds, had a nice quiet New Years Eve and celebrated by eating shrimp and snoozing on the couch. You can figure out who did what.
My foster got his cast off on Friday and is now sporting a soft cast & splint. He’s still getting around on 3 legs but will use the broken one for support and an occasional step. He goes back in for a check up & x-rays in two weeks and if it’s healed enough they will remove the cast & splint. If not he’ll be wearing it for another two weeks after that. He is really a good boy and is coming out of his shell more each day, no doubt he is learning from watching Cody… but I’m not sure if that is good or bad.
